Icons

“What is presented in the icon, as well as the way in which it is presented, together with what the representation tells us – forms a trinity that determines the symbolic appearance of the icon, points to the union of two times, two worlds, two only seemingly separate entities – God’s and human’s . And they are, in fact, in the very icon – firmly united into one – inexpressible, incommunicable, incomprehensible and inconceivable – yet visible and present, manifested in God’s will, in His energy, in His omnipresence.”
Nijač B., Icon, a holy painting, Belgrade, 1997

Technique: Egg tempera on a linden board with the use of various types of gilding on the bolus.
